What if consciousness is way beyond normal reality?

What if awareness is way beyond the brain? What if you are actually one with the universe?

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened — as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding — she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

A million thanks for sharing your experience, and so succinctly describing what I’ve understood for years, tried so very hard to describe, yet failed, and been ostricised for being “weird since childhood.” Late in life, diagnosed with bipolar disorder1, has changed everything with the respect and regard (and) love from family members and friends.Yet, I am a a successful professional artist, raised 2 amazing children, and nursed a husband through a heart transplant, among other illnesses, accidents, and so on… I am VERY connected with the now, the present moment, and much prefer the peace you described, as opposed to the drama around me (which is no longer part of my daily life). I could listen to your story over and over and over again!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! You are still in the human, physical embodiment, in this material world at this time and place (I believe) to continue your brain research, for people like me, and your brother. You touch others’ hearts with your story, perhaps, even increase awareness, compassion, a desire to understand and help to eradicate the stigma toward sufferers of mental illnesses. Peace to you always!

P.S. I am left-handed, but have had to strengthen my left hemisphere to fit into the world, as a business person, and, well… you know the rest.

I watched this as part of my Psychopathology class…it was freaking amazing.
