Acts of Kindness

July 7, 2017 — 1 Comment

This particular blog and video include a challenge to you, my friend!

Come along to my Venetian gondola to hear more.

According to Wikipedia, a random act of kindness is a non-premeditated, inconsistent action designed to offer kindness towards the outside world.

So basically, an act with that is chosen in those ten seconds increments and is acted upon with no investment in the outcome.

It is actually, in my point of view, something you BE, not something you do.

You, my friend, can choose to BE random acts of kindness, every day.

Are you up for that?

Dain

PS. I know I am not the first to invite you to practice random acts of kindness…

Ann Herbert wrote a whole book about it in the 90s. She was the one that coined the phrase “practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty”. I love that. I strive to BE that!

P.P.S. Are you one of the 10,000 amazing people who are playing in the Year of Being You Facebook Group? If so, how did we get so lucky?!? If not, go here to join the group, where we have regular “challenges” like this one!

I get it. It can be easy to feel let down by the world right now. There are messages of hate and acts of violence are on the rise.

Yet at the same time, there have been more acts of courage, and love, and the willingness to say – no, this is NOT my world. This is not okay. I will do and be whatever it takes to change this.

We don’t necessarily have a choice about the things that occur in the world. We do have a choice in how we respond.

After the attacks in Stockholm yesterday, the city woke up still with resiliency, openness and trust; not letting the terror stop the people that know something else is possible. People were opening their homes to others who were stranded downtown after the event. Strangers were offering rides to people who were stuck in different parts of the city. Grocery stores were offering food to families who couldn’t leave the downtown. (Read more about the response HERE).

What if it is this kindness that creates and propels our society forward? What if people choosing to be present with each other can start changing the world?

A few months ago, when I read this story of New Yorkers, standing together on a subway train, seeing all the anti-semitic graffiti, and then taking it down by using the hand sanitizer they had in their bags and purses, it gave me a similar sense of hope. (read the full story HERE)

It seems to me that now is the time to reclaim and create what you envision for the world.

What do you know is possible? Instead of the separation, what else could we all create?

Don’t let the messages of hate and judgment stop you or the future we can create. Don’t let that win.

What one small thing, what act of consciousness, can you do each day that creates the world as you would like it to be?

It’s what you be and do today that creates and shapes our world tomorrow.

We, together, can create a different world.

If not us who, if not now, when?

Share your #actsofconsciousness and ones that inspire you online and in social media. Now is the time for the voices of possibility and awareness to speak up and be heard. Check out our Facebook Group, Acts of Consciousness HERE, for more inspiration and to share your change in the world!

Ease, Joy and Glory

June 10, 2016 — 8 Comments

The first time I heard the mantra of Access, I wanted to KILL!

There was this small ad in the local paper that read: “All of Life Comes To Me with Ease and Joy and Glory. Call Shannon”

I just wanted to tear the newspaper apart — Ease, Joy and Glory!?!? My life seemed to be everything BUT that. Argh!

Anyhow, I had learned that when I resisted something that much, there was always a possibility for greater beyond it.

So I did call. And that was the start of a journey that has changed my whole life…

Here is the thing: Along the way, I seemed to have forgotten how powerful that mantra really is.

Would you be willing to come along to Santa Barbara and let yourself be re-introduced to these 12 words?

Please know, the three first words are crucial: All. Of. Life.

EVERYTHING — the good, the bad, and the ugly — comes to us with ease and joy and glory.

Therein lies the secret.

Therein lies the peace.

All of Life Comes To Me with Ease and Joy and Glory.

PS – Choose an area of your life that you’d like to change with ease – body, money, relationship, anything! Would you like to change it together? I’ve created a new online 21 day program – The 10 Keys to Total Freedom to give you even more tools to create the life you know is possible. Click here to learn more about the course!

Are you dissatisfied with the status quo? With the current state of the world? Do you ever feel frustrated with what you think you can or can’t change?

If you’ve been looking to change things in your life or in the world and nothing else has worked, what if consciousness is the missing element?

So many people think that if their eyes are open they’re conscious. What if it’s so much more?

Consciousness is about getting to what actually is. It opens up the space for ease, joy and possibilities to be in any situation.

You see, consciousness is the only thing that is going to change what is going on that ails our planet.

Consciousness, not technology is the key to changing global warming.
Consciousness, not fear is what will change the separation between countries, nations and people.
Consciousness, not intelligence is what will create a sustainable planet.

Consciousness is actually the future of possibilities for us.

To a dissatisfied dreamer, consciousness is really appealing because you’re the people that are saying “I know there has to be something better than this!”

Is it time for the world, and the limited reality around you, to no longer limit how you can BE in this world? To no longer limit what WE can create as our world and as our lives?

Is now the time my beautiful friends?

You will always know ;),

PS – I recently facilitated an evening class in Vancouver where we explored the potency and the “why” of consciousness. You can get the online video replay by clicking here.

We all create something different in the world. We are all unique. That’s why every chance I get I ask people, “What if you, truly being you, are the gift, the change and the possibility this world requires?”

Meet 16 year old entrepreneur Maya Penn, who reminded me again when watching this video –  EVERYTHING you do contributes to the world in some way, even if you don’t see it or get it right away.  You, being you, creates the change you’ve always known should be possible.

By creating what she loves, Maya IS changing the world. Click HERE to watch the video below.

So my friends, what future would you like to create? As Maya says, ‘the smallest actions lead to the biggest change’.

If you’d like to start your own business – great. Or create a non-profit – awesome.

But what if all of those outward creations that get acknowledged all come from truly being you?

What if that smallest action that changes everything is your choice to be you, in every moment, of every day, no matter what the situation?

You are the future. What would you like to create?

Until next time,

Dain

PS – Recently, I was on a global telecall with four other amazing leaders talking about Benevolent Capitalism & Leadership and being a catalyst for change in the world. You can catch the replay of that call, which was the launch of the BenCapTalks Series, by clicking HERE.

Our brothers and sisters in Paris, we are with you. As fellow citizens of this beautiful planet…what occurs for one of us occurs for all of us.

Sometimes out of the greatest tragedy comes the greatest possibility. Sometimes it is what we require to wake ourselves from the slumber of apathy.

We don’t necessarily have a choice about everything that gets created in our world, but we do have choice in how we respond.

Would we all be willing to ask what contribution we can be to make sure this never occurs on our planet again?

Will it happen again, someplace else? Maybe. But what can we step up and be willing to be that would change our world and reality so this can no longer happen in any of our cities, states and countries around the world?

East and west are irrelevant. We ALL live on this planet together.

Now is the time for the voices of possibility and awareness to speak up. Now is the time for us to stop being silent. If you would like to see something different as your world, BE the energy of that showing up in the world.

Know that it can exist. Don’t deny it. Don’t negate it. Stop believing that it has no value. Your awareness of something different and something possible, is what has the greatest value at a time like this.

What do you know that will change the face of our planets future that you haven’t been choosing?

If we would recognize this planet as our home, what would we all choose that we are not yet choosing? And if we did choose it, what might occur that hasn’t yet been able to?

Let’s stop letting the future of our planet be in the hands of those that scream the loudest and hate the most.

Let’s take back our future and recognise we have the capacity to create a kinder, gentler, more inclusive, less judgmental, less vitriolic world.

It is within our grasp.

WE, together, can create it.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Got Happiness?

June 4, 2014 — Leave a comment

This 17 year old with Progeria, a rare, rapid aging disease is proof that happiness is just a choice!

No matter what I choose to become I believe that I can change the world. And as I’m striving to change the world, I will be happy. -Sam Berns

Here are his 3 steps to being happy!

# 1. Be ok with what you can’t do because there is so much you CAN do. Most of Sam’s time is spent focusing on the activities he can do that bring him joy, not the limitations that his disease poses.

# 2. Surround yourself with people you want to be around.

# 3. Go forwards – don’t look backwards! Being brave isn’t supposed to be easy. But you can keep moving forwards!

And a bonus #4 — Never miss a party if you can help it!

Would you be willing to change the world by being happy, too?
